Peratallada, a beautiful town in Catalunya

Peratallada

One thing I love about living in Barcelona is how near to travel to one of these beautiful villages in Catalunya. The other weekend, I had a day trip to Peratallada, a beautiful town in Catalunya it’s only almost 2 hours from the Barcelona center by car and it’s under the municipality of Forallac in Baix Emporda. The name Peratallada is derived from the word pedra tallada which means carved stones in English according to what I read in Wikipedia.

What to see in Peratallada, food reviews, and restaurants to try.

I don’t know how to arrive here by public transportation, but if you have a car or rent a car from any car service provider it will be easier for you to arrive at this destination. This spring season is the perfect time to visit this place where the weather is perfect and you’ll see the beautiful farm field along the way.

For sure, there is some organized meetup out there from the meet-up community that probably you can share a car or bus with. If you are coming from Barcelona center it’s either using a tollway or not the journey should be more or less 2 hours long drive.

The fact it is also close to Costa Brava which you can take advantage of during summer aside from swimming in the beaches and visiting this magnificent village.

It’s a pretty small village which you can walk around and enjoy every passage with all the beautiful corners you will find along the way. If you are the kind of person that likes to stay in one place maybe you should check out the list of available small boutique hotels around the area. I will recommend the list of hotels below if you are interested in staying longer at Peratallada.

Restaurants to try:

As I always say in my previous blog post you should contact first the restaurant to secure your table. We tried the Restaurant la Roca and we ordered the menu for 24 euros each person comes with two courses, drinks, and dessert which is a fair deal considering the place.

The place is quite huge and they have plenty of tables outside, we chose this place because we are traveling with a dog and the reviews were quite good. The dishes are served in generous amounts and we didn’t have enough space for the dessert so we decided to take it away.

List of restaurants that we want to try in the future:

If you like Vermut there is one place that we tried and I highly recommend that you pass by. The name of the place is La Vermuteria for some strange reason it says closed on google maps but it was not when we were there. For sure you will see this place when you walk around the village.
